I know I want to move forward…how do I get started?
The easiest way to get started is to contact me so that I can answer any questions you may have and we can schedule your first appointment. You can call me, email me, or reach me through the form at the bottom of the page. If you call and reach my voicemail, I will respond within 24 hours – and in most cases much quicker than that.
What can I expect on my first visit?
We will spend some time discussing what your sessions will be like and reviewing important aspects of the practice policies, such as confidentiality and its importance for you. We will then explore in greater depth what caused you to call and set goals for our work together. Therapy starts during your first session!
How do I get to your office?
Visit the Contact page for my office address and to see a map. You can also link from there to Google Maps for directions. When you arrive at my building, you will enter the right most door marked 404. After entering the building, the entrance to my waiting area and office are on the right at the bottom of the stairs.
Do you have a waiting room or should I wait outside?
When you arrive, you are welcome to come in and have a seat in the private waiting area. If you need to be refreshed, get a cup of coffee or a water while you wait for your session to start. A private restroom is available. And if you have a few minutes before your session starts, feel free to look through the books on the bookshelf – I’ve handselected books that other clients have found particularly helpful in their healing. I will greet you in the waiting area when it’s time to get started.
What is your office like?
My counseling office is a comfortable space that provides a calm and safe environment for individuals, couples and families to pursue the healing they desire. You can look out windows with a natural view of grass and trees. You are welcome to sit wherever you are most comfortable; I usually sit in the back corner so that you don’t have to.
Is there paperwork that I need to complete for our first appointement?
You will save time at your first session by downloading the following forms, completing them at your convenience, and bringing them with you when we meet:
- Download the Getting Started Packet, including a demographic questionnaire, a checklist of your current experience, my HIPAA disclosure and my practice policies.
- Download the Authorization for Release of Information to give me permission to speak with a previous therapist or doctor.
